Douglas Carroll

Focused in the emerging-technology/start-up sector, Douglas brings with him over 30 years of experience and a remarkable track record of successfully transacted start-ups. He has held positions of increasing responsibility in Sales, Sales Management, Business Development and Commercialization across a wide array of successfully transacted organizations including Gauss Surgical (acquired by Stryker), Novadaq (acquired by Stryker), I-Flow Corporation (acquired by Kimberly Clark), LuMend (acquired by Johnson & Johnson), Pro-Duct Health (acquired by Cytyc) and Cardiothoracic Systems (acquired by Guidant).
Art Bailey
Chief Operating Officer, UNIFY MEDICAL
Art Bailey brings to Unify Medical over 15 years experience developing and manufacturing medical devices with a substantial emphasis on advanced vision systems for the operating room. As VP of Engineering and Manufacturing at Novadaq, his team developed class-leading fluorescence imaging products that spurred the $700M acquisition by Stryker. As management representative for quality at both Stryker and Novadaq, Art successfully integrated FDA-compliant quality management into cost-saving business operations. Prior to working for Novadaq, Art briefly worked for Xillix Technologies as a research engineer in advanced imaging. Art received his B.S. and Ph.D. in Physics from U.C. Santa Barbara.
Arnold-Peter C. Weiss, MD

Professor of Orthopaedics at Brown University Medical School & Medical University of South Carolina
Dr. Arnold-Peter Weiss is a hand surgeon having received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University, completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a hand surgery fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. He is currently the R. Scot Sellers Scholar of Hand Surgery, Chief of Hand Surgery, Vice Chairman and Professor at Brown Medical School and also has an appointment of Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Dr. Weiss has published over 215 peer-reviewed medical articles and many textbooks including the two-volume, ASSH Textbook of Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. He lectures extensively both nationally and internationally on hand surgery and has been awarded the AOA North American Fellowship, the American-British-Canadian Fellowship, the Sterling Bunnell fellowship and the Weiland Medal for Outstanding Lifetime Research in Hand Surgery. He is Editor Emeritus of the Journal of Hand Surgery and the Journal of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
Francis Papay, MD

Frank Papay, MD, is the Chairman of the Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Papay has been a member of Cleveland Clinic’s professional staff since 1992. He also serves as Section Head of Craniofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery in Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Papay has been recognized as a Top Doc in plastic surgery by Cleveland magazine and Castle Connolly. Dr. Papay has served as President of the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, elected Chair of the American Society of Plastic Surgery’s Ethics Committee, President of the Plastic Surgery Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Executive Committee Member of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio.
Yang Liu, PhD

Yang Liu, PhD is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a faculty member with the Iowa Informatics Initiative. In addition to directing the Integrated Imaging and Cyberphysical System Laboratory, he is a researcher in the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging and the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
Professor Liu’s research includes multimodal imaging, augmented reality, 3D computer vision, image registration, and machine learning. He received a PhD in biomedical engineering from Washington University, St. Louis.
