Rick Kovach

Rick has over 15 years of experience in medical device leadership.  He has held executive management positions in three early-stage venture-backed companies, all of which sold to strategic acquirers with transaction values exceeding $100 million.

 

Rick possesses a proven track record in building effective teams and has vast experience in medical device technology start-up and commercialization stages.

 

Most recently, Rick was with Cayenne Medical, a sports medicine organization, where his sales and marketing leadership resulted in the successful sale to Zimmer Biomet for over $125 million.

Arnold-Peter C. Weiss, MD

Dr. Arnold-Peter Weiss is a hand surgeon having received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Johns Hopkins University, completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a hand surgery fellowship at the Indiana Hand Center. He is currently the R. Scot Sellers Scholar of Hand Surgery, Chief of Hand Surgery, Vice Chairman and Professor at Brown Medical School and also has an appointment of Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina.

 

Dr. Weiss has published over 215 peer-reviewed medical articles and many textbooks including the two-volume, ASSH Textbook of Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery. He lectures extensively both nationally and internationally on hand surgery and has been awarded the AOA North American Fellowship, the American-British-Canadian Fellowship, the Sterling Bunnell fellowship and the Weiland Medal for Outstanding Lifetime Research in Hand Surgery. He is Editor Emeritus of the Journal of Hand Surgery and the Journal of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

 

Dr. Weiss holds 22 US & International patents on orthopedic joint implants and devices used worldwide. He serves on the Board of Directors of Nomos AG (Zurich, Switzerland), UNIFYMEDICAL, Realeve, SPDx, Vivorte and OrthoRPM. He is past Chair, Board of Governors of the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Trustee Emeritus of RISD, the National Rowing Foundation and the American Numismatic Society (New York). He has started several medical device companies with acquisitions by strategic companies such as Integra LifeSciences and Stryker Corporation.

Francis Papay, MD

Frank Papay, MD, is the Chairman of the Dermatology & Plastic Surgery Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Papay has been a member of Cleveland Clinic’s professional staff since 1992. He also serves as Section Head of Craniofacial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery in Cleveland Clinic’s Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.

 

Dr. Papay has been recognized as a Top Doc in plastic surgery by Cleveland magazine and Castle Connolly. Dr. Papay has served as President of the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, elected Chair of the American Society of Plastic Surgery’s Ethics Committee, President of the Plastic Surgery Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics and Executive Committee Member of the Academy of Medicine of Cleveland and Northern Ohio.

 

Dr. Papay has published over 100 scientific papers, abstracts and book chapters and holds five medical device patents. He has served as the Board Examiner of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Finalist Judge for the collegiate inventors’ competition from the National Inventors Hall of Fame and invited section reviewer of several plastic surgery scientific journals.

Yang Liu, PhD

Yang Liu, PhD is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a faculty member with the Iowa Informatics Initiative. In addition to directing the Integrated Imaging and Cyberphysical System Laboratory, he is a researcher in the Iowa Institute for Biomedical Imaging and the Center for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.

 

Professor Liu’s research includes multimodal imaging, augmented reality, 3D computer vision, image registration, and machine learning. He received a PhD in biomedical engineering from Washington University, St. Louis.
